– Les Carpenter on Buffalo and the Buffalo Bills. (via washingtonpoststyle)
I must disagree with this author’s take. I don’t think Green Bay has gone “corporate” - just because we have remodeled our stadium does not mean that we have lost that tradition and nostalgia. Green Bay is, and always will...

That's one way of looking at it
While discussing this, about a woman who finds out her fiancee has fathered about 70 (yes, seventy) children through his sperm donations:
John: At least you know he isn’t shooting blanks, though
Me: Oh, what a relief!
John: I’m a glass half full kinda guy

I got nothing.: Food Stamps →
-rosasparks-:
I just read, with utter disdain, that post complaining about people’s food choices and how can people eat at Taco Bell instead of lentil salad and I couldn’t stay away.
My family is on food stamps. They are supplemental to our tight food budget. We squeeze every dime into smithereens in order…
This is such an important point that I wish more people grasped. I have...

scenes-from-my-hood:
this is a whispery post. i used to believe that the death penalty could be appropriate in some cases. i wasn’t *for* it but i also wasn’t *for* abolishing it. after yesterday, i have switched camps. until the criminal justice system in this country is race-blind (which may be never, sadly) and…

While I appreciate the social networks hurrahing in their unity over opposition to what is taking place tonight, this is not anything new. Tonight may be about Troy Davis, but this isn’t about Troy Davis. This isn’t about guilt or innocence. This is about the inconsistency of our humanity. This is about the sickening desire for revenge over upholding an ideal. This is about...

“Imagine it’s your wife’s birthday. If it were your birthday you’d love it if she would do anything you wanted – so you think she’d like that too. You say, ‘For your birthday today, we will do anything you want. We can go anywhere and do anything. And I’ll even do anything for you. So what do you want to do?’
The problem, this is the opposite of most women’s ideal birthday gift.
Most...

The land of ice - part II
The driving part of our trip took us from Reykjavik to the opposite, eastern end of the island. It was made so much easier thanks to our car rental company, who helped us plan an itinerary that had us doing & seeing a lot without being too daunting. And if not for the GPS, we probably would still be driving around somewhere in the Icelandic highlands. It was a godsend.
A note on driving in...

The land of ice - part I
About 5 years ago now I went on this little trip to Iceland. Ok so it was just a few weeks ago but the post-vacation buzz is long gone and I have been a slacker extraordinaire in posting about my most extraordinary trip due to complete and utter insanity at work.
If I had to choose 3 words to describe my trip/thoughts of Iceland they would be: surreal, rugged, and a teensy weensy bit bizarre....
Remembering a Relationship, One Chat at a Time →
I’ve seen people linking to this all over the place for the past week or so, and finally got around to reading it.
However, what all of the linkers failed to mention is that this story is completely and utterly gut wrenching.
So this is me warning YOU of that, but also telling you that you should probably read this at some point [although maybe not at your desk, lest you turn into a weepy...
